I've never had a newsletter or a channel or any sort of forum like this.
In total honesty, for a very long time (about 10 years to be exact) I didn’t think people would care enough to read a newsletter about the art I was making. It wasn’t until one random weekday in July, while I was on the clock working at my serving job, one of the TikToks I had posted started gaining traction. I am not new to the TikTok game— In fact, I’ve been posting at least once a day for over a year now, but I had never had anything hit over 1,000 likes. Then suddenly I went from 5,000 followers to 6,000. Then 6,000 to 8,000. Then 8,000 to 15,000. The number kept climbing and I genuinely had a moment where I felt like nothing was real. People were starting to care.
And now I’m here writing this, and you’re there, reading it. But I’m still at my serving job. And I still live with my parents. And I’m still just Kimi outside of the world of ~Kimi Carter~ and my hope for this space is to share the human version of Kimi Carter with you— To give you insight into what it’s looked like to build this career, and be vulnerable enough to share what it feels like as well.
